WELCOME TO THE INFORMATION PAGE OF ST. THOMAS'-JUNCTION ROAD PARISH CHURCH

EVERYTHING YOU WANTED TO KNOW BUT WERE AFRAID TO ASK.....

Q. Where is the Church?
A. In Great Junction Street, next to Dr. Bells - just opposite the old Crabbie’s building.

Q. Do you have to be a member to come to the church?
A. No - all our services and activities are open to everyone.

Q. Are the services aimed only at those who believe?
A. No - believers and searchers and doubters are equally welcome.

Q. Why should I think about coming to Church?
A. There are many reasons, both spiritual and practical. It can provide a focus as well as an opportunity to share in the life of the community. It provides an oasis of spiritual refreshment and a forum for challenge in the hustle-bustle of life.

Q. When are the services?
A. Sundays at 11am as well as some special services.

Q. What happens at these services?
A. We sing, pray, read and listen - any words you need are provided (you don’t need to bring a hymn book or a bible).

Q. How should I dress?
A. You can wear anything you like - from suits to jeans.

Q. Are there reserved seats?
A. No - sit where you want.

Q. Can I bring my children?
A. Yes - They will be welcome. The children stay in the church for the first part of the service and then after the second hymn go out to Sunday School. You can either bring them to the service or take them to the downstairs Mission Hall just before the service so they can meet up with the Sunday School teachers and come up as a group. There is also a Creche.

Q. What about Communion Sundays?
A. There are 4 Sundays a year when Communion is celebrated (the last Sunday in January, Easter Sunday, the second last Sunday in June, and the last Sunday in October). Everyone welcome.

Q. Is there a chance to speak to other people?
A. Coffee is available in the Church Hall after all the services. This provides a good opportunity to meet people. If you have any questions, speak to one of the Elders on duty - they wear name badges.

Q. Can I speak to the Minister?
A. You can chat to George after the service at coffee. If you need to chat to him about anything specific (ie arranging baptism, wedding, discussing problems etc) you can arrange a time to meet with him.

Q. Will I be able to use a hearing aid at church services?
A. Yes - there is an induction loop system.

Q. What about a wheelchair?
A. Although we are still in the process of arranging proper wheelchair access - if you contact us in advance - we can assist with access - and there is wheelchair space inside the church.

Q. What next?
A. Come along any Sunday! Introduce yourself to the elders at the door. You will be made most welcome and we’d be delighted to see you.

Q. Apart from the Services, what other church activities are there?
A. There are many groups and organisations meeting on the premises during the week - for all ages. Do come along - you will be very welcome. A list of all the organisations has still to be added to the website.
